Welcome to Beauty and the Bride UK. If you’re looking for all things bridal beauty, style and wedding decor, you’ve come to the right place.
Why Beauty and the Bride UK?
The name Beauty and the Bride UK was inspired by the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast and my love for bridal beauty. Then the UK is simply added on as that’s where I am from, and the URL was available!
Firstly I should introduce myself, I’m Alex, a beauty, bridal and baking enthusiast!
I was lucky enough to grow up in the Cotswolds, a beautiful part of the UK, deep in the countryside. It’s also known for being a popular wedding destination.
As a child I loved to design clothes, more specifically wedding dresses – I reckon this was triggered by my love for Disney princesses and their wonderful gowns. As I grew up, I thought wedding dress design was going to be my future.
When I turned 16, I started to work as a waitress at a local hotel. It was a huge Cotswold mansion and a very popular wedding venue. Almost every weekend I spent helping set-up wedding decorations and then served up the food and drink for the wedding breakfast and after party. Every wedding was so unique and it was wonderful to be around such a happy atmosphere.
When it came to choosing my university studies, I first of all went to look at Fashion Design, so I could pursue my dream of wedding dress design. However, I had an epiphany. I decided to study Fashion Communication & Promotion. At the time I had made my own jewellery website, and even had a YouTube channel, so I became more tech-savvy. My mum would also call me a born sales woman and so I thought that my future would be in communication.
I also had a love for make-up artistry, and got trained up on a short-course at Central St Martins. During my studies at university, I worked part-time as a Make-up Artist at MAC. Here I got to help brides-to-be pick out their make-up for their big day and it felt really special to be able to be a part of that.
Now I’m graduated, work as a freelance make-up artist as well as a social media executive at a digital agency. To this day, I’m still fascinated by weddings, and so this is where my blog began.
